After turning it down a few times for reasons she publicly shared, Dolly Parton finally accepts her nomination for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2022.

Dolly Parton Nominated for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022

Parton is included in the long list of nominated acts for coveted recognition. She shares the same bill with Eurythmics, Kate Bush, Eminem, Beck, Lionel Richie, Rage Against The Machine, Eminem, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, Dionne Warwick, Devo, MC5, Pat Benatar, and New York Dolls.

After the list had been made public, the Country icon has publicly declined the nomination, although she could not really reverse the decision.

Earlier this March 2022, the "Jolene" hitmaker released a statement saying that although she was "extremely flattered and grateful" to be included in the nomination list, she respectfully bows out on the nomination.

"I don't feel that I have earned the right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out," she wrote.

Being a full-blown country artist, Dolly has also announced that because of the then declined nomination, she might finally start creating her new rock album shortly - a thing that she feels would merit her nomination and induction.

Despite her insistence to be removed, the Rock Hall was unfazed and did not remove Dolly from the ballot. However, in a recent interview, the country legend might have changed her mind after a month.

Dolly Parton Finally Welcomes Rock Hall Nomination

In a new interview with NPR's Morning Edition, Dolly Parton seemed to have retracted her earlier decision on the Rock Hall nomination.

Asked what she would be doing if she got inducted despite refusing to be nominated, Dolly shares an interesting take.

"Well, I'll accept gracefully. I would just say thanks, and I'll accept it because the fans vote," she said.

Dolly Parton clinched the Top 5 of the Fan Voting Leaderboards with 393,796 votes, trailing behind Eurythmics. Pat Benatar is in the third spot, while Eminem takes the second. Duran Duran leads the boards with 934,880 fan votes.

The top five artists, as selected by the public, will comprise a "fans' ballot" that will be tallied along with the other ballots to choose the 2022

Explaining her reasons why she initially declined, it is because it was recently only that Dolly was made aware that the nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was for people beyond the Rock genre.

Rock Hall Chairman John Sykes initially explained that the foundation spans out beyond the rock genre itself and honors those artists who created the sound of youth culture, which also involves Hip-Hop, Country, and R&B, which saw controversial nominations of Eminem, Drake, and now, Dolly Parton. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees will be named this coming May, with an Induction Ceremony slated in October.
