Coldplay is following Shawn Mendes' lead on helping Mother Earth by introducing a green initiative on their upcoming world tour - but in a rather different way.

With the British band's world tour continuing tomorrow, May 6, 2022, in Dallas, Coldplay has taken on a new commitment to sustainable living for their fans to follow suit.

Coldplay Launches THIS Green Initiative For Upcoming World Tour

Coldplay has created a special mobile app that they encourage their fans to use to accompany their "Music Of The Spheres" world tour.

Launched during their Central American concert dates initially, the "Music Of The Spheres World Tour App" is reintroduced to fans as the four-piece ensemble finally starts the North American Leg of their 2022 concert tour.

The app, which is now available for download for free on iOS devices and Android smart gadgets, "forms a key part of the band's pledge to make their tour as sustainable and low-carbon as possible, since fan travel accounts for the largest part of tour-related emissions."

The "Music Of The Spheres World Tour App" allows fans to plan low-carbon travel from one show to another. Fans who opt for "green journeys" will be awarded accordingly with exclusive merchandise and discount codes for concert tickets.

Aside from the mentioned inclusions, Coldplay-themed games, Augmented Reality Experiences, exclusive BTS content, and live audio streams will also be featured in the app.

Through these, the band can measure total fan-travel carbon footprint and emissions. This will help the band mitigate the impacts via high-quality nature-based solutions, such as reforestation and soil regeneration.

Coldplay reports that the average fan carbon footprint is down around 50% from 2016 to 2017's "A Head Full Of Dreams Tour."

Asked about their newly-launched app, Coldplay opened up about how they had thought of the idea way back then.

"For the past few years, we've been figuring out how to put sustainability at the heart of our tour. The app is a big part of that. You can use the app to figure out the cleanest and greenest ways to get to and from the concert," the band explained.

Fans can download the app for free here.
