LeAnn Rimes hasn't released anything new in the last few years in terms of music.

However, because she will turn 40 this August, a source told OK magazine that she is working hard to stay current and guarantee that her followers do not regard her as a has-been.

The singer-songwriter is preparing to release her latest album, "God's Work," and will even go on one of her most extensive tours in years.

She is apparently hoping that it would rekindle her career.

"She's always assumed there was plenty of time to rise back to the top," the insider says, "but she recognizes that time is running out!"

The Grammy winner, who made headlines for her 2008 romance with now-husband Eddie Cibrian, allegedly wants to be recognized for her singing rather than the infidelity scandal and rivalry with Eddie's previous wife, Brandi Glanville.

The "I Need You" hitmaker hasn't had a hit song in a few years and believes that the new album and tour will be her last chance to make a return.

"She despises the idea that her greatest days are behind her," one insider said.

Fans who watched this year's Country Music Awards may have spotted her on the red carpet as well.

Fans also couldn't stop gushing about her because it was one of the few events she'd attended in recent years.

Why Did LeAnn Rimes Retire From Singing?

LeAnn Rimes admitted herself into a mental health institution in 2012, only a day after her 30th birthday, following the bad news attention surrounding her romance with Eddie Cibrian and divorce from Dean Sheremet.

On "The Tamron Hall Show," she revealed that it was one of the best presents she ever gave herself.

The "Can't Fight the Moonlight" singer also told People magazine that she felt quite alone the first night she was there and acknowledged to having a lot of "co-dependency."

However, LeAnn was aware that there was a lot of healing to be done at the moment.

Thankfully, her time in treatment seems to have assisted her in coming to terms with her lasting trauma.

LeAnn Rimes opted to live a more quiet life in 2014, admitting that being a celebrity and the attention that comes with it had a toll on her. After all, she began at an early age.

LeAnn's concentration switched from music to creating a spiritual lifestyle blog, "Soul of EverLe," by 2017.
