Sex Pistols only needed one album to become one of the most influential punk bands.

Fans of Sex Pistols will learn more about the band through Danny Boyle's upcoming FX documentary, "Pistols." It will explore the life of guitarist Steve Jones - the founding member of the band - and Sex Pistols' short-lived career.

"It is the detonation point for British street culture...where ordinary young people had the stage and vented their fury, and their fashion...and everyone had to watch and listen...and everyone feared them or followed them. The Sex Pistols. At its center was a young charming illiterate kleptomaniac - a hero for the times - Steve Jones, who became in his own words, the 94th greatest guitarist of all time. This is how he got there," Boyles said, per Rolling Stone.

Ahead of its release on May 31, some people wonder how they became so popular despite only having one studio album.

Sex Pistols' Secret Toward Success

Sex Pistols' career started in 1975. But they still waited for two years before releasing their first and only album, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols."

Time and Rolling Stone always include the album as one of the greatest of all time. The project includes Sex Pistols' hit songs like "God Save the Queen," "Holidays in the Sun," and "Anarchy in the U.K."

It also flaunted "Problems" and "Bodies," which remain bangers after all these years.

It immediately pushed them to become the driver of punk rock in the music industry, although Johnny Rotten announced the following year that they were breaking up.

The news outlet noted how the band immediately touched on heavy topics in that one album alone: greed, abortion, social privilege, and narcissism.

"Never Mind the Bollocks" also scored double platinum in the UK and platinum in the US. Due to their influence, major bands like Green Day, Oasis, Nirvana, and Guns N' Roses named Sex Pistols as their inspiration in their careers.

Aside from their successful album, Sex Pistols also rose to fame due to their unmatched live shows. Although there were live frenzies - as some pelted them with tomatoes, garbage, beer cans, and more - they still turned people's heads that they got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, which was already decades after their debut and disbandment.
