The gallerist revealed in the post that Reid left behind his granddaughter Rose and an "enormous legacy." It did not mention any cause of death.

The artist famously designed the cover of Sex Pistols' only album, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" and the cover art for the band's hit songs "God Save the Queen" and "Anarchy in the UK."

Before his death, Reid appeared in an interview with Another Man during which he shared how he met Malcolm, the future manager of Sex Pistols, when he entered the Croydon School of Art in 1968.

"We were both into situationism and Guy Debord's The Society of the Spectacle, and would feed each other information," he said. "For me, Malcolm was the greatest conceptual artist of the 20th century."

Reid notably created the magazine Suburban Press years after he met with Malcolm. Around that time, the manager also contacted and informed him he was working with Sex Pistols.

In a separate interview with The Guardian, the artist opened up about the success of "God Save the Queen" and the tracks genuine opposition to the things happening around them.

Aside from Sex Pistols, Reid also collaborated with Afro Celt Sound System and Shepard Fairey.

Jamie Reid Receives Heartfelt Tribute

Following Reid's death, Sex Pistols fans honored him online by reposting his artworks and praising him and his work.

One said, "RIP Jamie Reid, best known as the designer for the classic Sex Pistols era 1976-79. His ability to render complex ideas in eye catching visuals was their perfect accompaniment. He and I did a book together in 1987: it's a good one."

"We've lost the wonderful #JamieReid whose graphics and slogans lit up the bedrooms and ballrooms of the punk rock generation and they still look so good . Bright , bold , clever and edgy - perfect," Chris Packham wrote.

Sex Pistols disbanded two and a half years after releasing their first and only album.
