Alec John Such once revealed the real reason why he left Bon Jovi a decade after founding it.

Bon Jovi announced the heartbreaking news about his passing through a Twitter post, saying that the former bassist died at the age of 70. It called him an integral part of the formation of the band in 1983.

During his time with the New Jersey-based band, he contributed to making hit songs, including "Livin' on a Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name."

However, Such decided to leave Bon Jovi in 1994 despite their popularity, and the reason behind it recently resurfaced.

In a past interview with Asbury Park Press (via Express UK) in 2000, the Bon Jovi's former bassist revealed that his company lied about his age. He noted that he was 31 when he joined the band, making him 10 years older than his bandmates.

Such disclosed that his sister got mad before as the papers would always call her as his older sister despite the fact that she was younger than him.

His age then eventually made an impact on his career, and it led him to rethink his time with Bon Jovi.

"When I was 43, I started to get burned out. It felt like work and I didn't want to work. The reason I got into a band, to begin with is because I didn't want to work.I made my money during the era of 'He who dies with the most toys wins. That's how the '80s were. But you grow out of that, you really do," he said.

Although he ended up quitting the band, he attended Bon Jovi's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

Alec John Such's Heartfelt Message to Bon Jovi

Such, for the first time in decades, said that he was happy to become part of Bon Jovi - the band that has sold over 130 million records globally. They also became one of the best-selling rock bands in history.
