Beanie Feldstein is leaving Funny Girl earlier than expected, is it because Lea Michele is finally taking over?

Rumors about Lea Michel bagging her dream role on Funny Girl have had a huge chatter in the past few weeks since the 2022 Tony Awards.

Beanie Feldstein's 'Funny Girl' performance was met with unfavorable reviews, particularly noting how she was not actually fit to fill in Barbra Streisand's shoes.

Beanie Feldstein Exits 'Funny Girl' Earlier Than Announced

Actress/Singer Beanie Feldstein is finally exiting the Broadway revival production of the Jule Styne hit 'Funny Girl' after helming the top role.

In a statement she posted on Instagram yesterday, Beanie Feldstein is emotional as she announced that she would be taking her final curtain call as Fanny Brice this month.

"Playing Fanny Brice on Broadway has been a lifelong dream of mine, and doing so for the last few months has been a great joy and true honor. Once the production decided to take the show in a different direction, I made the extremely difficult decision to step away sooner than anticipated," Feldstein wrote on Instagram.

Beanie will still be belting out Don't Rain On My Parade at the August Wilson Theatre on Broadway until July 31, 2022. Her exit, along with Jane Lynch, was initially announced last month to be taking place in September 2022.

Chatter among the community has been amplified - all pointing towards Spring Awakening alum Lea Michele to take over Feldstein's departure.

Lea Michele is Fanny Brice in 'Funny Girl' Broadway Revival

Last month, sources close to the production says that Lea Michele is reportedly cast as Fanny Brice on the Broadway revival of Funny Girl.

Although nothing has been cast yet, fans of the production are in a chorus that Michele was the only one fit to take over Fanny's shoes now - especially after negative reviews on Feldstein's performance.

Lea Michele was actually "cast" as Fanny Brice in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, well, her famous character Rachel Berry did, in the hit FOX musical drama series Glee in 2015.

Like Feldstein, Michele has publicly declared numerous times that like her character, it is also her lifelong dream to be Fanny Brice on Broadway - which she actually achieved on Glee.

Lea Michele even performed Don't Rain on My Parade at the 2010 Tony Awards along with Matthew Morrison.
