He consulted a specialist who came to visit and diagnosed him with "viral laryngitis." The famed singer was advised to cancel the concert, take medications and rest his voice.

He clarified that he didn't collapse and the reports circulating online are "pure humor." Jones added that he's looking forward to recovering and returning to his summer tour.

"Unfortunately the show had to be cancelled at the last minute, and for that I am very sorry. However, the show in Budapest has been rescheduled and will take place on August 16. Thanks again for all your kind concern," he concluded. (via The Sun)

The statement comes after several news outlets reported that the singer collapsed minutes before he was set to perform.

News.com.au reported that the "Green Green Grass of Home" hitmaker became ill an hour before he takes the stage on his highly-anticipated Surrounded by Time tour.

The outlet noted that paramedics immediately rushed to the venue at the time of the incident.

Concert staff issued an apology to concertgoers who are anticipating the show that evening, saying they were looking forward to seeing them again.

The concert in Hungary was supposed to take place at the initially advertised Kyiv show on his tour but was replaced due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

As of this writing, no other tour dates have been canceled and he's still set to travel across Europe and the United States with over 50 scheduled shows.

He will be visiting several cities across Europe over the following weeks like Croatia, Luxembourg, Germany, Norway, and Belgium.

Tom Jones will head to the United Kingdom in August before flying to the US.

This was not the first time the singer canceled a performance as he was forced to postpone his US Tour in 2017 because of doctors' orders.
