The Chainsmokers have been in the music industry for a decade now and they achieved almost everything as a duo like performing sold-out shows and winning a Grammy Award. Even though the two amassed massive success throughout their careers, they are set to make history by doing a shocking thing.

According to Uproxx, Drew Taggart and Alex Pall will be the first artists to perform 20 miles above the earth, just a few miles before reaching the outer space.

The outlet noted that the DJ duo is collaborating with space tourism company World View which will let them perform above the earth by being enclosed inside a pressurized capsule attached to a stratospheric balloon.

Speaking to the Associated Press, the company's CEO, Ryan Hartman, said The Chainsmokers will be the first musical act to perform "at the edge" of space.

The two issued a statement about the collaboration, saying they have always dreamed of going to space and they're excited to collaborate with World View.

"We know the views of both Earth and space are going to be incredible and inspiring and we hope to leverage this flight for creativity on future projects," they added.

As of this writing, details behind the performance remain unclear, but the company revealed that the project will happen in 2024.

The latest space performance announcement comes almost a decade after Lady Gaga was slated to become the first artist to perform in outer space.

According to Today, Mother Monster was supposed to ride the Virgin Galactic ship to perform one song at the Zero-G colony high-tech musical festival in New Mexico.

"I was asked specifically to sing, so I'm going to be the first recording artist to sing in space, and I did not purchase my flight, my ticket was given to me," Gaga told Vanity Fair.

Gaga reportedly underwent a month of vocal training because it feels different to sing in the atmosphere.

The galactic ship was set to take off in 2015 but was canceled after the aircraft crashed a year prior.

BBC reported that the pilot manning the test flight died and another one was injured.

Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group issued a statement at the time, saying he was shocked and saddened by the incident.

He added that his company will persevere and move forward even though reaching outer space is hard.
