Many fans were excited to see Pearl Jam perform live in Austria, but hours before the show, the band had to cancel their appearance over a shocking thing that frontman Eddie Vedder is currently experiencing; what happened to the singer?

Taking to their social media accounts, the group issued a statement saying they had to cancel their show in Vienna due to "extreme circumstances" from their last gig at Paris, France.

With the combination of heat, dust, and smoke from wildfires, Vedder's throat gave up and was "left damaged."

The band clarified that the singer had already consulted a medical professional and underwent treatment due to his condition, but his vocal cords are still struggling.

"This is brutal news and horrible timing... for everyone involved... Those who work so hard to put on the shows as well as those who give their precious time and energies to attend," they added. (via UPROXX)

They later apologized to fans, saying they attempted to find other options to still play and Vedder wanted to perform at tonight's show, but "there's no throat available at this time."

Fans could refund tickets at the point of purchase.

As of this writing, the band has not revealed if they're going to cancel their upcoming shows or when will they re-schedule their show in Austria.

Following this, many fans immediately bombarded the comment section to send Vedder well-wishes.

"Feeling so sorry for the Vienna attendance but if Eddie can't be there and give his all (as PJ always do), that must be a tough sore. Take care, Ed!" one wrote.

However, not all fans were pleased about the cancelation as many of them traveled from another place to see the band perform.

One commenter said they flew in from Spain and it's the second year in a row that Pearl Jam had to cancel their show.

Other fans agreed as many of them came from other countries like Amsterdam and Boston.

Their next stop would be at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic, on July 22 with special guests White Reaper.

Pearl Jam only had a few scheduled dates left from their highly-anticipated European leg tour as they're set to conclude the series of performances on July 25 at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
