Rapper Trina's niece, a 17-year-old, died while visiting the hip-hop star in Miami.

A news outlet exclusively reported that the young woman, who Trina calls Baby Suga, sustained a gunshot wound that led to her death on Tuesday night. Two other women in the area also got shot during the shooting incident.

Although the other victims' condition remains unknown, Trina's niece ultimately died after the horrifying event.

As revealed by Complex, the authorities have since launched an investigation into the matter. The probe aims to know whether the incident was random or premeditated, but it was tagged as a "case of wrong place at the wrong time."

Trina always shares videos and pictures of Baby Suga, whose real name was Toni Chester, on her social media account, hinting at their close relationship.

"We kindly ask that everyone please respect the privacy of Trina and her family at this devastating time," a representative for the rapper said.

Rapper Trina's Latest Update

Baby Suga's death came after Trina sat down for an interview with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN on Drink Champs.

Last week, she shared the story of her extensive career but did not accept the idea of appearing in another "Verzuz."

According to the rapper, she does not have time to do another potential appearance.

"If I have nothing to do, I wasn't traveling, if I was sitting at home with my feet up, bored, not booked-oh it's a war. We could go at it. But I don't really have the time for that...I'm so busy making sure my bag is good and making sure everything around me is good and buying property and doing stuff that makes sense," she said.

Trina has been one of the prides of Miami. In May, she was honored with a key to the city and got her annual Trina Day on May 14.

During this year's celebration, a block party was held in her home in Liberty City. At that time, Mayor Francis Suarez expressed his gratitude to Trina for taking care of her hometown.

"There are not enough words in the vocabulary to express our deep appreciation for everything you've done for this community. Never forgetting about this community. The one that loves you, that will always love you and will always take care of you as you've always taken care of us," the mayor went on.
