Born in Scotland, the 41-year-old singer-turned-theatre actor was then a contestant in the very first "Pop Idol" in the United Kingdom.

He was also prominently featured in the 2001 ITV show "Popstars."

It came as a shock to everyone when Danesh turned down then-Simon Cowell's offer of a record deal to work with U2 and The Rolling Stones producer Steve Lillywhite.

Darius Danesh's 2002 debut album, "Dive In," peaked at No. 6 on the UK Albums chart and was certified Platinum. His second album, "Live Twice," only reached No. 36 on the same charts in 2004.

His debut single, "Colourblind" reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks in 2002.

But, Danesh made his way to the West End, playing the successful lawyer Billy Flynn in "Chicago," becoming the youngest actor to be cast at 25 years old for the role in the show's history.

In 2007, he went on to play Sky Masterson on the West-End Production of "Guys and Dolls" and became Nick Arnstein in the 2015 production of "Funny Girl."
