Trace Adkins, 60, explained in an interview with Fox News Digital that he lost his finger following a freak accident with a drill while he worked on an oil rig.

Before his performance at Grand Ole Pry in Nashville, Tennessee, the country musician shared the incident, "when they put it back on, it wasn't going to work anymore, so they just had to fuse the joints. So, I showed him how I wanted it."

He noted that while there were risks with the operation, he was set on playing his guitar again and pushed through. He then explained how the surgeons reattached his finger so he "could put it around the neck of the guitar."

Into Adkin's Life

According to the Outsider, Adkins worked regular jobs before he became famous. The country musician revealed that he worked hard to achieve his success. It is no surprise why he chose to save his finger to make music still.

Prior to his severed-now reattached-finger, Adkins also revealed that he has been through a lot of struggles throughout the years.

"I've been shot, cut, beat up, all kinds of stuff," he said. "Busted by some broncos and on down the line."

Despite the crazy and bizarre stories he had to offer, Adkins is still grateful to be able to make music and be a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

"I'm so respectful of this institution, what it stands for, what it means to country music, and I take being a member of the Grand Ole Opry very seriously."

He first performed for the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium in 1996. In 2003, he eventually became a member. In an interview, he shared that becoming a member is one of his greatest accomplishments.

Adkins made his musical debut with "Dreamin' Out Loud" in 1996 under Capitol Records. He has charted on the Billboard country music charts and was number one on Canada's music chart.

Adkins has seen success in releasing his albums, garnering gold or platinum certifications for six of his albums.

Aside from music, the country singer has also dabbled in writing. He wrote and released an autobiography entitled "A Personal Stand: Observations and Opinions From A Free-Thinking Roughneck," released in 2007. Moreover, Adkins is currently cast in "Monarch," a show following a family who created a country music dynasty. He plays Albie Roman, the reigning King Of Country Music. He is starring alongside Susan Sarandon, Joshua Sasse, and Anna Friel.
