It has been a while since Lewis Capaldi released his debut studio album, "Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent," which was dropped way back in May of 2019.

Since then, the Scottish singer has released singles here and there, but not another album is in sight, this left fans wondering why exactly is that.

In a podcast interview with Steven Bartlett for "Diary of A CEO," Capaldi revealed that the main reason behind the long wait after his debut album was because he "hates" recording albums.

The 25-year-old singer shared that he struggles with anxiety, "I have really had bad anxiety that never reached a tipping point until after getting famous."

"I f**king hate recording albums, despise the music videos," he said. "I only do all that stuff because playing live is just f**king unparallel thing that you can compare to everything else, and that was making me feel s**t. Like, f**k, I don't know if I can do this s**t anymore."

Aside from struggling with his mental health, he was diagnosed with Tourette's Syndrome, he revealed earlier this month, causing his shoulder to twitch whenever he is stressed or happy, he shared.

The disorder manifests through "repetitive movements or unusual sounds" called tics, which cannot be easily controlled.

"Some days it's more painful than others and some days it's less painful. It looks a lot worse than it is. Sometimes it's quite uncomfortable ... but it comes and goes," he explained

His Struggles With Success

When Capaldi released his first single "Bruises" in 2017, he did not expect that he would become the big star that he is now.

However, the fame he received came with its own setbacks. He shared that he started having panic attacks after becoming famous.

Due to his huge success, Capaldi shared that he was always second-guessing himself, "I would start writing a song and like, 'no, that's s**t.' [...] Just f**king like, 'that's s**t, that's s**t.'"

'[...] One of the songs went number one in America. There's no way I can do that again," he said. "That just seems such a f**king climb and something that I not capable of."

He shared that he is managing this by going to therapy and being more open about his struggles with anxiety.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why his sophomore album is taking so long, however, in a recent interview with Smallzy's Surgery, he jokingly said that a funny encounter made him want to return to making music.

"I'm walking around and someone comes up and asks me, 'excuse me, do you work here?' And I'm like, 'this is not my job.' This is not great. So I text my manager and I said we need to release some music this is bad."

When asked about his music hiatus, Capaldi joked, "People had seen too much of me. And then there was this pandemic. And I was like look, the world is suffered enough. I need to give them a break here. So I've slept away."

He then clarified that it was not a "cleanse," because he was still lurking through Twitter and TikTok the entire time.

His Struggles With Online Dating

In his podcast interview, the multi-awarded singer revealed that being famous and online dating is not that good of a mix.

Apparently, he has been kicked out of dating apps, as he was mistaken as a poser. "I've just been kicked off Tinder because I think people think I'm fake,"

"So, I've been kicked off Bumble, Tinder, Hinge ... I love Tinder, Tinder's great but Hinge is what I really want to get on because I feel like mid-20s, that's what people are on," he said

Despite being kicked out of the dating apps, he has had previous success with it, seeing that he commended his ex-girlfriend, who he met on Tinder, saying, "she's f**king great."
