Fans reached a breaking point when Lil Baby announced that he would not be performing at the BreakOut Festival in Vancouver on Sept. 19.

The 27-year-old rapper excused himself from his set, citing that he was not feeling well. The "Drip Too Hard" rapper announced his cancelation through Instagram Stories, he wrote: "I would like to start off by saying I truly apologise Vancouver, Canada, the Breakout Festival, and to everyone who was in attendance! [sic]"

"I have been going so hard these past few months without any breaks that it finally caught up with me. And my body completely shut down. I owe you guys big time and will for sure make up for it soon," and added praying emojis.

According to reports, Lil Baby was the fourth performer to cancel his set, following Lil Uzi Vert, Polo G, and Sofaygo. This, apparently, was the last straw because fans were livid and caused a riot. The fans thrashed the place, throwing garbage, breaking equipment, and destroying tents.

What Happened?

Some people were seen climbing lamp posts and tents, some were standing on fixtures, while others were overturning vendor kiosks.

According to Vancouver police, there were "several hundred people" involved in the chaos and destruction of the PNE amphitheater.

Out of the "several hundred," seven were arrested for "breach of the peace," Global News reported, as there were also fights that broke out during the incident.

PNE amphitheater released its own statement regarding the incident: "following an announcement that the headliner at BreakOut Festival would not be performing, fans turned their disappointment into anger, doing significant damage to the PNE Amphitheatre and parts of Hastings Park."

"At this time our first priority is for the safety and wellbeing of our staff as many were deeply affected by the reaction of guests and behaviour that ensued."

"[...] To our neighbours - the PNE is incredibly sorry for the actions of those guests and impact this behaviour may have had on our community. We will be undertaking a full investigation and will be making further statements shortly," they added.

One of the organizers of the event, Cresendo1, also released a statement via Instagram: "[...] We do not condone violence or destruction of property and are utterly disappointed with the way some of our patrons acted at this year's event." They also added that they will be giving partial refunds.
