5 Seconds of Summer delighted fans by releasing a music video for "Bad Omens," the third song on the tracklist from their newly-released album "5SOS5."

Even prior to the release of the music video, "Bad Omens" has become a fan favorite. Billboard called the song "arena-ready." The song follows a couple who have gone their separate ways but not without regrets and second thoughts.

"I cried in your dark brown eyes / For the thousandth time / 'Cause you love somebody / I tried to stop the door as it was closin' / It was closin' / Can't help the way I keep ignorin' every omen."

The bridge best captures the essence of the song. "We go 'round again, we jump back in bed / That's what you do when you love somebody / These bad omens, I look right through them / That's what you do when you love somebody."

The Team

Upon the release of the music video, a couple of eagle-eyed fans spotted that the team that worked behind the metaphorical music video, which, in turn, was full of Ukrainians.

According to fans, the music video itself was also filmed in Ukraine. A fan-run account called 5SOS Updates wrote: "Bad Omens was filmed in Ukraine, with Ukrainian directors, actors, and background team." Another fan-run account based in Ukraine thanked the band for the gesture, "Thank you [5 Seconds of Summer] for everything you do for Ukraine! It's very important to give Ukrainians a chance to work and show their talents to the whole world now. We really appreciate it! Cause that's what you do when you love somebody."

Metaphorical

The artistry behind the music video was also not missed as fans pointed out that there were literal red flags all over the video, indicating the signs that the couple in the video ignored.

The video starts off with a car crash, the couple in the video bruised and bleeding, and ends with their car being wrapped in red cloth as it drives off a cliff, indicating that they ignored the bad omens presented to them.

"5SOS5" was released on Sept. 23, but the Australian-native band has been releasing singles from the album since earlier this year, including "Take My Hand" and "Complete Mess" in April, "Me Myself & I" in May, "Blender" in July, and "Older' in September.

5 Seconds of Summer consists of four members: Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin, Michael Clifford, and Calum Hood. "5SOS5" comes four years after their last studio album "Youngblood," was released in 2018.

"We had a bit more time to reflect on everything that had happened to us-as opposed to in years previous, where we just were writing an album, going on tour, writing an album, going on tour," said Irwin to The Guardian.

Their reflections brought about an album and a drastic change in their music and lyrics.

"[...] it's more about realizing that maybe you don't have as many emotional tools in the tool belt to figure out why they affect you," added Hemmings.
