After the massive success of her debut album, "Pang," in 2019, Caroline Polachek is back with another single, "Sunset," and it is packed with all the good vibes.

Polachek's melodic voice sings the chorus almost like a lullaby.

According to reports, the warm song was co-produced by the singer and Sega Bodega. Fans first caught wind of it when she performed it at The Greek Theatre in 2021.

Apparently, Polachek had a hands-on approach with her newest single and music video, because she was also credited as the co-director of the music video, alongside Matt Copson.

Fans React

Fans might recognize the 37-year-old as a co-founder of the indie synth-pop band, Chairlift. After Chairlift disbanded in 2017, Polachek pursued a solo career.

Since then, she is yet to release another album to succeed the critically-acclaimed debut studio album, and fans are left asking for more.

"I'm gonna need an album, please. Every song by here has been hitting lately," a fan commented on the music video, uploaded on YouTube.

"It's about damn time. We've been wanting to see this song get released for ages, girl!" Another chimed in.

"The way she carelessly does whatever she wants, touching every genre without [losing] her signature... incredible. And the singles are already feeling semantically and sonically connected," a fan commented.

"How do you consistently release music that is refreshing, ethereal and melodically enchanting while also being insanely polished and delivering world-class vocals? I'm shook. [sic]"

'Sunset'

Asked about "Sunset," Polachek replied, "Resolution is so rare in life, but music is unnaturally full of it. A sunset is the biggest pop cliche ever, because it's a perfect resolution."

She explained that it was inspired by Ennio Morricone, an Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor, and musician. He died on Jul. 6, 2020, and was considered one of the most prolific and greatest film composers of all time.

"Ennio Morricone passed away a few months before Salvador (Sega Bodega) and I started 'Sunset', and the folkloric, epic tone of the spaghetti western sunset played on my mind," she shared.

"I wanted an operatic chorus with no lyrics, but salted with some very real disillusionment: past all the distraction, dead ends, and false promises of the world [are] the love we too often take for granted. That's my sunset," she concluded.

Polachek started her music career while she formed Chairlift. Since then, she has released hits and created music for some of the most notable artists in this generation.
