In footage shared to TikTok, the 38-year-old singer could be seen straining to open one of her eyelids throughout the performance, prompting several fans to joke that she experienced a "mechanical problem."
After regaining the ability to open her right eye, the Roar hitmaker resumed her act. The event, which was filmed by an audience member and published to social media, prompted a flurry of jokes from Katy Perry's admirers that she had experienced some sort of technical malfunction.
However, one sensible user suggested that it may have been caused by Katy's artificial eyelashes sticking to the bottom of her eye.
One person joked, "Clone failure."
The person also said next time, management should ensure all software is updated and that any necessary patches are applied.
Another user added, "She was downloading the song," while a third commented that the "robot" is malfunctioning.
"Lol it's her eyelash glue sticking to her lower eyelid, it happens to me all the time." one fan explained to other clowning commenters.
Katy Perry's Play residency in Las Vegas began in December 2021, and the "very camp" show, in which Perry emerges from a big toilet and converses with a talking mask, received positive reviews almost immediately.
