On Nov. 9, Alan Jackson will attend the 2022 Country Music Association (CMA) Awards and leave with a big smile on his face as he was just announced as this year's recipient of the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.

According to reports, the "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" singer will be honored with the award at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 9, and will join the other recipients of the prestigious honor, including Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn, and Willie Nelson.

The CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award is honored by an artist who has created a positive impact and growth on country music. It also recognizes an artist who has earned national and international prominence through various means including performances, awards, philanthropy, and other criteria.

"Just as Alan has been influenced by many country legends throughout his career, he too has inspired a generation of artists to stay true to the authenticity of country music," said CMA's Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Trahern in a statement.

Jackson is no stranger to prestigious awards for his contribution in country music. He has been named entertainer of the year three times before by CMA and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2018. In 1991, he became a member of one of the most sought-after stages, Grande Ole Pry.

Tribute

The 64-year-old singer is still active in making music and touring. He is currently on the road for his "Last Call Tour."

According to reports, CMA will also bring in Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Jon Pardi, and Lainey Wilson for the tribute performance.

"We are so excited to bring Dierks, Jon, Carrie and Lainey together on the CMA Awards stage for what will surely be an incredible and touching tribute to an artist they each deeply admire," Trahern said.

Bentley recalled an instance when he introduced himself to the country icon and told him that he was a fan, "That's all I wanted, was a handshake and to be able to tell him that. Not sure how much it meant to him, but it made a lot to me!"

Jackson has eighteen albums released to date, with his most recent album, "Where Have You Gone," released just the previous year.
