Trey Songz's recent lawsuit had been officially dismissed.

The singer-songwriter was embroiled in a controversy earlier this year after a woman filed a rape civil case against him. However, recent reports state that the lawsuit has been dismissed after the statute of limitations ran out on the alleged victim's allegations.

According to Complex, the case has been dismissed earlier this week after the musician's lawyers argued that the statute of limitations had expired before the woman filed the lawsuit.

The complaint was filed in February and the anonymous alleged victim, who identified as Jane Doe, claimed that they had a consensual relationship in 2016 before the singer became a "savage rapist."

The woman reportedly sought $20 million in damages but was unable to be compensated as the case had been dropped.

In the lawsuit, the unnamed woman alleged that she attended Songz's party at his home where he anally raped her even though she said she didn't want to have anal sex.

While the alleged incident was happening, the woman said she told him to stop but refuses. She later went to a hospital and an examination found there was "severe anal tearing" that would allegedly require her to undergo surgery.

Not Trey Songz's First Case to be Dismissed

This was not the first time Songz, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, was accused of a crime as a woman alleged that she had been sexually assaulted by the singer in Nevada.

The reported incident took place in his hotel room at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas where he invited a group of women for his 37th birthday.

The Las Vegas Metro Police Department later confirmed that they received a report about the incident and they were looking into the case. They also noted that the singer was being cooperative at the time.

They later released a statement, confirming that no criminal charges will be fined against the musician, saying they already concluded the investigation.

"If any new evidence comes to light, the case will be reopened for further investigation," they added.

Songz's lawyers spoke to TMZ, saying they are grateful to the authorities for their thorough investigation, adding the case found inconsistency in witness testimony and insufficient evidence.

The singer has not publicly commented on both cases.
