Remember the hit 80's song "Fame" and "Flashdance (What A Feeling)"? Irene Cara, the precious voice behind the iconic songs, has passed away already at 68 years old.

Cara wasn't just a force in the music industry; she was also a well-known actress during the 80s era.

ABC 7 initially reported the news about Irene Cara's death. Per sources, the singer died in her Florida home.

However, as of this writing, Irene Cara's cause of death has remained a mystery as sources have not disclosed what transpired before her passing.

"It is with profound sadness that on behalf of her family, I announce the passing of Irene Cara. The Academy Award-winning actress, singer, songwriter, and producer passed away in her Florida home. Her cause of death is currently unknown and will be released when information is available," the official announcement on Cara's social media account reads.

Judith Moose, the President of JM Media Group and Cara's publicist, broke the news on the social media site.

"Irene's family has requested privacy as they process their grief. She was a beautifully gifted soul whose legacy will live forever through her music and films. Funeral services are pending and a memorial for her fans will be planned at a future date," the post continued.

Fans have flocked to commemorate the loss of a talent, offering their condolences and tributes to the artist.

"Irene Cara and the Fame soundtrack had a profound impact on 20 yr old me in 1980. Rest in peace, Ms. Cara," a fan posted.

"Irene Cara was a part of my childhood (growing up an 80's kid). From "Flashdance.. What A Feeling", "Fame," and then discovering her amazing performance in "Sparkle"! May she Rest In Heaven," another commented.

Some fans were still at a loss for words on the songstress' passing, even questioning the actual announcement.

However, Moose, Cara's publicist, assured the public despite that the unfortunate news. She also went on to reveal something interesting:

"Unfortunately, yes. Her business manager and I were notified a few hours ago. I'm her publicist. Believe me, I wish it weren't true. We were working on amazing projects that would have made her and her fans incredibly happy. Her manager and I will finish them. She'd want that," she pointed out.

Irene Cara was the person behind the song "Flashdance... What a Feeling," which was used in "Flashdance." She won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for this, as well as a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Cara is also the lead star on "Fame," as she also sang the iconic song of the same title, which won an Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Golden Globe in the same year. (via Metro UK)
