Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckham are and always will be the most iconic duo from Fleetwood Mac. With decades-worth of friendship and music between them, it's only understandable the famed guitarist is heartbroken with the news of the death of the singer.

Buckingham took to Instagram to share a hand-written note dedicated to McVie, "Christine McVie's sudden passing is profoundly heartbreaking. Not only were she and I part of the magical family of Fleetwood Mac, to me Christine was a musical comrade, a friend, a soul mate, a sister."

"For over four decades, we helped each other create a beautiful body of work and a lasting legacy that continues to resonate today.

"I feel very lucky to have known her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on through that body of work and that legacy."

Four Decades

Throughout the four decades, McVie and Buckingham knew each other, their bond was like no other.

They were part of Fleetwood Mac, along with Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, John McVie, and Stevie Nicks. The situation within the rock band was rocky at best, but there were some friendships that lasted longer than others.

The pair eventually even released a joint album in 2017. The collab with Buckingham shared that McVie wanted out of her retirement from music, which lasted for more than a decade.

McVie's renewed interest in music also influenced him, "She was interested in getting reconnected with her creative process, so she started sending me demos of stuff and that sparked my own material.

"To be honest, it sparked something that had been dormant in me since the last time we worked together. That got me going on a track, and we just thought we'd go in the studio and see where it was going to go," he added.

McVie agreed that her chemistry with Buckingham was like no other, they just clicked and music followed wherever the pair went.

"It didn't seem to be a struggle. It was very natural. I think that has to be the synergy between Lindsey and myself.

"We always have been like that over the course of our careers. We've had that musical connection, which fortunately hadn't gone anywhere."

Although Buckingham did not note in his letter, he must really be grateful that he and McVie managed to put out their joint album before it was too late.
