Imagine Dragons may have become one of the most successful bands in recent years, but there were a few record labels who passed on them before their fame skyrocketed.

According to LMT Online, the band recently attended Variety's Hitmakers Brunch over the weekend where frontman Dan Reynlods accepted the Group of the Year award in which he revealed that their group was rejected by some of the executives who were present at the event.

He then took a dig at Atlantic Records by sarcastically expressing their gratitude, saying they thank the music giant for passing on them.

The singer also revealed that the record label took them to Disneyland for free and it was great.

"Molly, if you're here, you tried to sign us, but the people didn't believe us. But Atlantic, we're celebrating you. We are celebrating you. It's good to have some healthy competition," he went on.

Band members Ben McKee (bass), Daniel Platzman (drums), and Wayne Sermon (guitar) then joined him on stage in the middle of his speech.

Dan Reynolds Reveals His Surprising Past

Later on, Reynolds shared his backstory, saying he grew up as a Mormon in Las Vegas and he finds his path "weird." He was one of the religion's members who would knock on doors to spread the word of God.

However, later in life, the frontman said people told him he was crazy and he later started a band called Imagine Dragons that became a success years later.

Not everyone was supportive of his music career as neither of his parents wanted him to be a musician. Reynolds grew up with seven brothers and they're all in the field of law and medicine, but despite taking a different career path, the singer said he's the richest now.

He also recalled the time when he struggled to make ends meet after being kicked out of Brigham Young University, saying he played six-hour gigs at a bar called O'Sheas in Las Vegas just to make money.

"thank you to O'Sheas, thank you to Atlantic and mainly thank you to Interscope (Records) and Variety - what a pleasure to be here," he concluded.

In 2011, the band released their third EP titled "It's Time" and they later signed with Interscope Records that year. Today, they are still under the record label as well as with Kidinakorner.
