It seems like LeAnn Rimes might have received the saddest Christmas gift earlier than she expected.

After braving a strong flu very recently, the country music star was shocked to have received unfortunate news from her doctors.

In a handwritten letter posted on Instagram, Rimes revealed that she had been diagnosed by her doctors that she has a bleed on her vocal cords. Because of this, Rimes is forced to do the unthinkable, she would be canceling her upcoming Christmas holiday shows to give way for her recovery.

"It completely and utterly breaks my heart to have to announce that I will be rescheduling this weekend's shows, she said in a statement. "While sick with the flu, my doctor discovered a bleed on my vocal cord, caused by the violent cough that came along with being sick. I am getting better, but I am unable to talk or sing... doctor's orders!"

According to the Collin County ENT, Vocal Cord Hemorrhaging, the same case with Rimes, is caused by a variety of factors; among these are daily habits. Per Rimes, it was caused because of excessive coughing, this is because these habits can put undue pressure on the vocal cords and cause a hemorrhage.

Commonly, a vocal rest is highly recommended for patients with vocal cord hemorrhaging - no talking or singing. For extreme cases, voice therapy and the length of vocal rest usually varies.

"I am devastated to have to do this as there was nothing more that I was looking forward to than celebrating the holidays with you. Please check your emails for rescheduled information and I will see you very soon," the post continued.

According to Billboard, Rimes' supposed to show at the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, will be taking place next Sep. 29, 2023, while her Ryman Auditorium gig will happen on Apr. 8, 2023.

However, two dates were only rescheduled on LeAnn Rimes' "Joy: The Holiday Show," as four gigs are still set in place.

The back-to-back concert at Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City, Oregon on Dec. 16 and 17, 2022, is still continuing. Her last two concerts at Washington's Northern Quest Resort and Casino on Dec. 18, 2022, and Pala Casino - Events Center in Pala, California on Dec. 22, 2022, are also pushing through.
