The complete list of the nominees of the 2023 Golden Globe Awards was finally released, and one of its highly awaited categories, the Best Original Song category, will see a three-way fight of three main pop stars.

The 2023 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song is one of the oldest awards given by the institution, dating back to 1962.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the people behind the Golden Globe Awards presents the award to the songwriters of a song written specifically for a motion picture. However, in some cases, performers of the song weren't credited, unless they have writing credits on the actual material.

This year, three out of the five nominees for the 2023 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, are one of the biggest names in pop music - Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna. (via Billboard)

Rihanna Golden Globe 'Lift Me Up'

Thanks to the "Black Panther 2" anthem, "Lift Me Up" granted Rihanna her very first Golden Globe Awards nomination. The track is a serious contender for the category. The track soared to the No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts on its debut. "Lift Me Up" marked Rihanna's comeback single, her first song since 2016.

Meanwhile, the song is also a projected nominee for the 2023 Oscars for Best Original Song. Should Rihanna notch a nomination for the song again at the Oscars, it would be her first nomination. Tems and Ryan Coogler are also credited as co-writers on the song along with Rihanna.

Taylor Swift Golden Globe 'Carolina'

Although the song did not perform that well on the charts compared to "Lift Me Up," "Carolina" is a highly acclaimed Taylor Swift opus because of how it perfectly encapsulated the overall mood, vibe, and sense of "Where The Crawdads Sing."

This is Taylor Swift's fourth nomination for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. The first one was for "Safe and Sound" for "The Hunger Games," "Sweeter Than Fiction" by "One Chance," and her last one was in 2010 for "Cats," and "Beautiful Ghosts." Swift has yet to win any nomination.

Lady Gaga Golden Globe 'Hold My Hand'

A ballad from "Top Gun: Maverick," "Hold My Hand" might be Lady Gaga's way of scoring her second Golden Globe Award. In 2018, Gaga won the award against other heavy hits like Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All The Stars," and "Girl in the Movies" by Dolly Parton, among others; thanks to "Shallow" from "A Star is Born."

Aside from the three, "Ciao Papa," by Guillermo del Toro & Roeban Katz from "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio" and "Naatu Naatu" by Kala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani, and Rahul Sipligunj from "RRR" were also nominated.
