Al B. Sure! shared his current health status a year after waking up from a long comatose.

After spending the past months focusing on his recovery, Al B. marked his first-ever interview where he addressed his health scare and recent music milestones.

Speaking with Fox News New York, the 54-year-old R&B singer - whose real name is Albert Joseph Brown III -recalled winning the Best Artist award at the American Music Awards and two Grammy nominations.

Amid those success stories, he talked about gaining weight and embracing changes after Quincy Jones told him to get his act together. With that, he opted to undergo bariatric surgery to look better and make himself feel well.

According to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), patients undergo weight loss surgery to treat obesity and other illnesses, including sleep apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol.

However, he faced a health issue when he collapsed while making new music. The health scare also led him to fall into a coma for two months.

"I was intubated, I was on a ventilator with a tracheotomy, I mean, there were so many things going on," Al. B told Fox News New York. "What people don't truly understand, unless you've been through this type of medical journey, is taking for granted breathing, tying your shoes, speaking."
