The shortlisted entries for the music categories at the Oscars 2023 were already released, and it would seem like four major pop stars are battling it out for that Academy Award!

According to Billboard, the Academy Awards has shortlisted 15 entries for the coveted music category in the ceremony.

  • "Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)" by The Weeknd, Steve Angello Josefsson, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axel Hedfords, Simon Franglen from "Avatar: The Way of Water"
  • "Lift Me Up" by Ryan Coogler, Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna, and Tems from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever"
  • "This Is a Life" by David Byrne, Ryan Lott, and Mitski from "Everything Everywhere All at Once"
  • "Ciao Papa" by Alexandre Desplat, Roeban Katz, Guillermo del Toro from "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio"
  • "Til You're Home" by Rita Wilson from "A Man Called Otto"
  • "Naatu Naatu" by Kala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani, Rahul Sipligunj from "RRR"
  • "My Mind & Me" by Amy Allen, Jonathan Bellion, Selena Gomez, Jordan K Johnson, Stefan Johnson, and Michael Pollack from "Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me"

Superstar pals Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are on their way to bagging their first Academy Award nomination with "My Mind and Me" and "Carolina." Rihanna, in her comeback era, is pressed to get her first Oscar nomination with Tems and Ryan Coogler for the hair-raising anthem "Lift Me Up."

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga's "Hold My Hand" emerged victorious against "I Ain't Worried" by Ryan Tedder, which also came from the same flick and performed better on the charts.

The surprising acts that came through were The Weeknd with "Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)," Drake and Giveon for "Time," Mitski with "This Is a Life," and Jazmine Sullivan with "Stand Up."

The 2023 Oscars, or the 95th Academy Awards, will be held on Mar. 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
