Taylor Swift can't have it all--for now. The singer-songwriter tried her hand at directing her first-ever short film solo and was well-received, however, the Academy Award thinks otherwise.

Swift unveiled her directing prowess with "All Too Well: The Short Film," a live-action short film in support of her rerecorded hit song "All Too Well" in 2021.

Fans were hopeful that the short film would receive an Oscar nomination, as news of its eligibility circulated months before the Academy Awards released its shortlist.

However, much to everyone's dismay, the short film did not make the cut, however, Swift's fans should worry not because they can still catch a glimpse of the "Anti-Hero" singer at the 2023 Oscar Awards, because Swift was nominated in another category.

According to Billboard, Swift's song for the movie, "Where The Crawdad Sings" titled "Carolina" was nominated for an Oscar under the Best Original Song category.

Other singers like Rihanna and Lady Gaga were also nominated under the same category for "Life Me Up" from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" and "Hold My Hand" from "Top Gun: Maverick," respectively.

Selena Gomez's "My Mind & Me" from "Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me" and The Weeknd's "Nothing Is Lost (You Gave Me Strength") from "Avatar: The Way of Water" also received Oscar nods.

Swift has been taking directing more seriously because according to reports, the singer even appeared in Variety's Directors on Directors series.

And while she is yet to make a larger mark as a director in the industry officially, her music is a different topic altogether.

"Carolina" not only received an Oscar nod, but it was also nominated for Critics Choice, Golden Globes, and Hollywood Music in Media awards this season.

The "All Too Well: The Short Film" snub has left fans fuming, and predicting that the singer will return to the Oscars red carpet very soon.

"You can snub her all you want. I know when Taylor sets her mind on getting something, there's no stopping her. She will win that oscar sooner or later. Mark my words," wrote a fan.

"Pretending like I'm not incredibly annoyed about the 'All Too Well' Oscar snub," another wrote.

On the other hand, a fan noted that the short film was not Oscar Award-worthy, "like .. I don't think this was a snub. it was a music video with a marriage story ripoff scene that.. wasn't their best acting (sorry). absolutely gorgeous stunning music video that was the perfect final puzzle piece in the 'All Too Well' story after 10 years, but not an Oscar snub."
