Did Whitney Houston suffer from any health issues before her tragic death?

On Feb. 11, 2012, Houston was found unconscious and submerged in the bathtub at the Beverly Hilton's Suite 434. Paramedics arrived at the scene and tried to revive her through CPR. However, the legendary musician passed away a few minutes later.

It was said that the "Saving All My Love For You" hitmaker looked disheveled and erratic in the days before her death, leading the talks about her health issues and cause of death to resurface.

What Happened to Whitney Houston Before Her Death?

Two days before her death, the "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" singer visited the rehearsals of Clive Davis' pre-Grammy gala. According to musical director Rickey Minor, he noticed that something was off about her, who he referred to as his little sister.

"She's not a morning person. She loves her sleep, and she's a night owl, so I never get to see her at 10:30. And she was kind of wet, like dripping. And I said, 'Where are you coming from?' She says, 'I've been swimming. I'm getting my lungs back. I'm getting back in shape,'" he recalled, according to The New York Post.

Houston announced it after years of her drug abuse and smoking. However, it did not happen at all, as she died a few days after her declaration.

People who knew her were definitely aware of the drug addiction she suffered from. Her mother, Cissy, once checked her in her Atlanta home after her son Gary told her the singer was in trouble. She also revealed that she had been seeing the singer like she was someone she did not know, adding that Houston was in "grave danger."

The day they had been fearing about happened in 2012 when the singer died from an accidental drowning. According to the Los Angeles County coroner, Houston also suffered from the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use."

No trauma or foul play was suspected, but Chief Coroner Craig Harvey revealed to the reporters that she seemingly used cocaine immediately before she collapsed in the bathtub and that the narrowing of her arteries confirmed that a cardiac event happened after her drug use worsened it.

Meanwhile, the toxicology tests found other drugs in her system, including marijuana, Xanax, Flexeril, and Benadryl. But these reportedly did not contribute to her death.
