Summer Walker not only welcomed the new year into her life, but a set of twin babies as well. The singer unveiled a video of herself birthing her children at home.

"I'm so proud of myself," said the singer on Instagram. "Just sharing to inspire other women, cause I know once you carry twins to almost 42 weeks, especially with one breech, people will try to steer you towards induction or C-section."

Walker also encouraged other women to consider home birth instead of C-section in hospitals, and thanked the people who assisted her during the entire ordeal: her spirit guides, godparents, birth team, elders, and baby daddy Larry or better known as LVRD Pharoah.

"You can do it, this was my second home birth all natural, seven hours, no tearing," she continued.

"Both births I almost blacked out at the end but eating your placenta will definitely keep you above water,

"I have thin blood so I always end up going to the hospital to bring myself back into good strength for them but as long as my kids stay at home untouched I'm good."

According to The Source, Walker's first child, whom she shares with producer London On Da Track, was born in 2021, while her twins' father is LVRD Pharoah.

A clip of the birth can be found on The Shade Room's Instagram account, linked here.

Before Walker gave birth, Erykah Badu, who acted as the singer's doula during her first birth, hinted that the "Girls Need Love" singer was expecting twins, reports say.

The news of Walker munching down on her placenta quickly spread through social media, which garnered mixed reactions from people.

"When Summer Walker inferred she ate her placenta, was it cooked or raw? Thoughts keeping me up at night," a Twitter user wrote.

"Summer Walker saying she ate her placenta wouldn't have disturbed me so much til I realized she said it.. all kinds of weird thoughts ran thru my head," another added.

Other users, on the other hand, defended the singer, "Why am I seeing grown a*s people shame Summer Walker for eating her placenta & giving birth at home? I thought it was a known thing for some pregnant women..."

"Summer Walker ate her placenta. My sister makes the placenta pills often as a doula," another added.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the act of a mother eating her placenta after giving birth is called placentophagy, and can possibly be harmful to herself and her child.

People have different ways of going about this process, as some may prefer eating it raw, cooked, or even blended into a smoothie.

However, there is no evidence that eating the placenta will be beneficial in or after giving birth.
