Rolling Stone made the arrival of 2023 a little feistier after publishing the now-controversial "200 Greatest Singers of All-Time" list.

The list infamously ranked singers based on a specialized "elaborate voting process" developed by the music publication. According to them, the new list was compiled by the magazine's staff - encompassing "100 years of pop music as an ongoing global conversation."

"Before you start scrolling (and commenting), keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List. Talent is impressive; genius is transcendent. Sure, many of the people here were born with massive pipes, perfect pitch, and boundless range. Others have rougher, stranger, or more delicate instruments," the publication wrote.

The publication faced a mountain of backlash when it snubbed perhaps one of the most revered singers in recent memory - Celine Dion. Fans of the Canadian singer had been fuming online, dragging the publication and questioning its legitimacy because of the huge miss.

But aside from Dion, there are a lot of other huge artists who were seemingly missed on the list.

Snubbed Artists on Rolling Stone's 200 Greatest Singers of All-Time

Hailed as the "Queen of Pop," Madonna might have been one of the most obvious snubs on the list. Her plethora of hits and classics makes her one of the most formidable music icons in recent memory.

Perhaps one of the most influential Black artists out there is jazz singer Nat King Cole, who was also missing from the list. With a career spanning illustrious three decades, Cole should be an automatic shoo-in in on at least the Top 20.

Cher is one of the biggest female music and entertainment legends out there. Establishing herself as the "Goddess of Pop," Cher's impact on the music industry is unparalleled. That is why it is quite a shock not to see her on at least the Top 15.

Breaking gender and racial barriers early on in the music scene is what Janet Jackson stunningly did with flying colors. She became an inspiration to many of the younger African-American women singers who were included on the list, which is why it is baffling not to see her at least make it on the list.

Another huge miss was Jennifer Hudson. She might have been the only one deserving of singing "I Will Always Love You" in front of the late Whitney Houston, who ranked No. 2 on the list. Interestingly, she also portrayed No. 1 singer Aretha Franklin in the movie "RESPECT," so it is really puzzling why she wasn't even included in at least the Top 50.

Bruno Mars is one of the best male singers of this generation. His influence in pop music throughout the years, his chart-topping songs, and award-winning albums alone should be an indication enough to merit him at least a spot in the Top 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.

Which singers do you think were also left out on Rolling Stone's 200 Greatest Singers of All-Time list?
