Chris Ledesma, a legendary music editor who famously worked on "The Simpsons," has died. He was 64.

A spokesperson for "The Simpsons" confirmed the death news to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that the beloved music editor died on Dec. 16 in Los Angeles.

Further details about his passing and funeral plans were not made available to the public.

The hit animated show paid tribute to Ledesma in its latest episode. According to The New York Post, "The Simpsons" included the title card that read, "In loving memory of Chris Ledesma," below an animated version of the music legend sitting on the Simpsons sofa.

He was with Homer, Marge, Maggie, Lisa, and Bart as the late icon held a conductor's baton high.

The show's crew expressed their heartbreaks on their social media accounts and paid tribute to him.

"Chris Ledesma was a sweet man who loved his job and was really, really good at it. We miss him," writer Carolyn Omine tweeted, while Al Jean said, "A wonderful, hard working, very talented man who will be missed by all he knew."

Fans and colleagues also took their time to honor his legacy in their separate posts.

Remembering Chris Ledesma

Before his death, Ledesma notably served as the music editor of "The Simpsons" from its first episode to its 734th part. The Fox animated series released episode 1 in 1989.

Initially, he was hired as music editor on "The Tracey Ullman Show," where the animated show started as a series of shorts during commercials. He and his team then worked on creating a spinoff of it on Nov. 22, 1989.

In his 2011 blog post, Ledesma opened up about having second thoughts about creating the show. But everything changed after seeing what they created.

"I was skeptical of turning the little 30- and 60-second featurettes on Tracey into a full-fledged, half-hour show. All that went out the window as soon as I saw the first two shows," he wrote.

He marked in September 2021 on Twitter that he had been part of the program for more than half of his life. However, he left the show in May, with his final episode aired in November.

Ledesma's other projects included "Murder," "She Wrote," "Amazing Stories," "Airwolf," "Magnum P.I.," and "The Critic."
