It seems like Tory Lanez is being consumed by regret after he realizes that he should have testified in his own trial with Megan Thee Stallion.

The realization came weeks after Lanez, formally known as Daystar Peterson, was convicted of three counts of felony assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

If his legal camp's appeal is denied, he is facing 22 years of jail time and possibly deportation since he's a Canadian native.

According to Rolling Stone, a "well-placed" source reveals that the Canadian rapper feels like he was "misled" by his own lawyer to not testify in his own defense during the trial.

Heads turned when Peterson's camp announced that he would not be taking the stand to defend himself, despite many pronouncements before about his own recollection of the incident.

The source says that Peterson was "dissuaded" by his lawyer, George Mgdesyan, to testify in court, a decision he now feels "misguided."

Meanwhile, it seemed like Mgdesyan was lynched on Peterson's legal team. The publication also noted that David Kenner, who previously represented Snoop Dogg on his 1996 murder trial, will be the rapper's new defense lawyer.

Famous defense attorney Jose Baez has also joined the team recently. They are now formulating an appeal to overturn the conviction.

In a conversation with TMZ, Baez said that he hoped that he could have been onboarded to the team earlier.

"Unfortunately, this is the way that it is, but he's got me now and I'm certainly willing to give him everything I have and hopefully, we'll get the best result possible for him," Baez admitted. "In all of that, there are things that certainly in the trial he wished had gone the other way."

On the other hand, Megan Thee Stallion took the stand and emotionally recalled the traumatic incident.

"I'm in shock. I'm scared. I hear the gun going off, and I can't believe he's shooting at me," the "Savage" rapper recalled. She also went on to elaborate on the "torture" that she had to suffer and the public persecution she had experienced after the horrific accident.

Among the other claims that Megan has revealed was that she was offered a million dollars by Peterson to not speak of the incident ever again.
