The 2009 MTV VMAs went down as one of the most controversial shows the network has hosted in its history. Not only because the attendees at the time were extremely star-studded, but what transpired during its biggest moments was one for history books.

To refresh one's memory, Taylor Swift just won Best Female Video for "You Belong With Me," beating other heavyweights like Pink, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, and even Beyonce too.

As Swift delivers her speech, her boyfriend at the time, Taylor Lautner, stands behind her - gasping the same amount of disbelief and shock when Kanye West bolted up to the stage and grabbed Swift's microphone to say that it was Beyonce's "Single Ladies" who deserved to win the award.

"I can barely hear it. I can't see them, I'm just assuming that this whole thing was a practiced and rehearsed skit because why else would Kanye West be jumping up on the stage, interrupting Taylor Swift?" he recalled to his new podcast The Squeeze.

He also remembered that he was laughing until he saw his girlfriend's confused look - "I was like, 'Oh. No, that wasn't good."

Since then, the infamous moment went down to be commercially disastrous in the long run for West and mentally damaging for Swift. Rolling Stone even branded it to be one of the worst decisions in music history.

Afterward, Swift was reportedly seen crying backstage but quickly pulled everything together as she tried and performed "You Belong With Me," the song that earned her the award.

West, on the other hand, was dragged out of the event - and has suffered major blowback on his support from fans and people in general. He had his personal exile to reflect on his actions, Consequence reports. West even revealed to have pondered back then that that would cost him his entire career.

As for Taylor Lautner, he and Swift broke up on December 2009, three months after the infamous MTV moment. Swift's album "Speak Now," was released a year after - and one of the biggest songs she released was "Back To December," a song that was inspired by their relationship.

Now, in a stunning turn of events - Taylor Lautner's wife, who is also a Taylor, revealed in an interview, as quoted by Pop Base, that her favorite Taylor Swift album was actually "Speak Now."

For her, it was one of the "best albums of all time" as the lyrics were "insane."
