Aerosmith VS. Van Halen - which is the better band in fans' opinion?

Due to the large number of rock bands in the industry, fans could not help but compare them to one another. The latest debate put Aerosmith and Van Halen under the spotlight, and both bands received support from their loyal fans.

The buzz started on Twitter when the newsletter Return of Rock posted a poll asking fans, "Van Halen OR Aerosmith?"

As of press time, the tweet had already garnered 175,000 views and hundreds of comments from fans who shared what they think about the two rock bands. Most of them also explained that the answer depends on the year a person is born.

One said, "If you were born in the 60's your answer is probably Aerosmith. If like me your brother started listening to VH in 1979 and you were 7 - the answer is clear."

"You have to restrict it to the early years for both," another wrote. "Later Aerosmith and their power ballads were pretty lame, and so was all the synth-pop cr*p that was so much of Van Hagar. So who to pick? EVH was incredible on the guitar, Aerosmith was probably better songwriters. Aerosmith."

Aerosmith VS Van Halen

There has been a connection between Aerosmith and Van Halen long before the poll came out.

In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Aerosmith guitarist, Joe Perry, revealed that the band once considered replacing its frontman, Steven Tyler. As for the identity of the potential singer, he revealed it would have been Van Halen's Sammy Hagar.

Reports suggested that the band started looking for a singer to replace Tyler when he decided to join Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez in "American Idol."

Aerosmith and Van Halen set separate records throughout their active years.

Aerosmith notably won its first Grammy award in 1990 when it won Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. It then continuously scored more accolades, including 16 Boston Music Awards, six American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and two People's Choice Awards, among others.

Meanwhile, Van Halen disbanded for good in 2020, a month after Eddie Van Halen died from cancer. The band scored several awards from American Music Awards, Grammy Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards.
