This year's Grammy Awards is one of the most iconic ones yet; not only did it see a remarkable milestone achieved, but it also saw some of the biggest music snubs in history!

One of the biggest snubs of the night, fans deemed, was Beyonce's "Renaissance" losing to Harry Styles' "Harry's House."

Before the 2023 Grammys even announced the nominees for Album of the Year, everyone was convinced that Beyonce was taking home the golden gramophone-including her husband and famed producer, Jay-Z.

During his appearance on the red carpet, Tidal interviewed the rapper-slash-producer, and asked him his thoughts regarding the nomination.

"I remove myself from the process and hope they just get it right. It got to the point where I was like, it's just a marketing thing," he said.

However, he also admitted that as an artist, the recognition feels a lot different. "You go, you got an album out and it could help the sales go up. It got to that point, but deep down ... Again, we grew up idolizing this. It was like one of the pillars for us."

Album of the Year Upset

When asked why he thinks Beyonce's album should win album of the year, the answer was clear and simple for Jay-Z.

"Look what it's done to the culture," he replied. "Look how the energy of the world moved. They play her whole album in the club. I don't know if I've ever seen that. The whole entire joint-like, everything?! Every remix is amazing. Everyone's inspired. It has inspired the world. Every remix is better than the other one."

"When it just inspires creativity, that's an album," he concluded. "That has to be Album of the Year. It has to be."

While "Renaissance" did not win album of the year, Beyonce walked out of the Grammy Awards with four other wins.

According to reports, her song "Cuff It" won best r&b song, "Plastic Off the Sofe" won best traditional r&b performance, "Break My Soul" won best dance/electronic recording, and "Renaissance" won best dance/electronic album.

With her wins, Beyonce set two new records. She is the first Black woman to win the best dance/electronic album and she is also currently the artist with the most wins in Record Academy's history.
