Nipsey Hussle's killer, Eric Holder, was sentenced years after he tragically murdered the rapper.

A judge in Los Angeles announced the final sentence of Holder on Wednesday. The man, who was convicted of shooting and killing Nipsey Hussle, was sentenced to 60 years to life in prison.

Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke II read the sentence to the 33-year-old suspect after he was found guilty of murdering Hussle outside of his Marathon clothing store in March 2019. CBS News noted that the murder conviction alone already carries 25 years to life in a prison sentence.

"I am very mindful of what was presented as to Mr. Holder's mental health," Jacke said, per AP News. "I am also mindful of the devastation caused to the victims and their families. I believe this sentence balances the two."

The month-long trial helped jurors convict the murderer with other charges, including two counts of assault with a firearm and two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter. Aside from Nipsey Hussle, Holder also hit two other men at the scene.

According to the prosecutors, the attack was premeditated after a fight between Hussle and Holder occurred. They were acquaintances before the shooting, as they both grew up in South Los Angeles and aspired to become rappers. Deputy District Attorney John McKinney said Holder planned to kill the victim.

The suspect shot Nipsey Hussle at least 10 times and kicked him in the head before leaving the murder scene.

During the sentencing, Holder was noticeably quiet as he did not react when the sentence was read. He only spoke when he was asked whether he understood the development in the case.

Nipsey Hussle's Death a Tremendous Loss

Before the sentence was announced, Nipsey Hussle's close friend Herman "Cowboy" Douglas delivered a heartfelt message as he told the judge that the rapper's tragic death was a tremendous loss for him and the South Los Angeles community.

He was standing with the rapper when he was killed.

"Our community right now, we lost everything, everything we worked for. One man's mistake, one man's action, messed up a whole community," he said of the rapper, who was a son and a dad to him.

Douglas said he does not care about the longevity of the sentence. Instead, he wanted to know why someone would do that to Nipsey Hussle.

Years after his death, the late rapper was posthumously honored during the recent Walk of Fame Ceremony held at 6212 Hollywood Blvd.
