Hours before Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band was set to perform at Columbus, Ohio's Nationwide Arena, they announced that the concert is postponed.

"Due to illness, tonight's [Bruce Springsteen] and The E Street Band concert at Nationwide Arena has been postponed," the Nationwide Arena wrote via their social media.

"We are working on rescheduling the date so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled show."

According to reports, the concert was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. on Mar. 9.

With the postponement comes a wave of worry from fans, who have already prepared immensely for their tour-accommodations and travel, included.

Springsteen's next concert will be held in Uncasville, Connecticut on Mar. 12, and there is no news on whether the rescheduled date for the Columbus concert will affect succeeding tour dates.

After his show in Connecticut, he is expected to perform at Albany, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Boston, Massachusetts; and more.

A little of comfort for the fans, though, reports say that the tickets for tonight will still be valid for the new date once it is announced.

There is no word on what exactly is Springsteen's illness, but since the singer is 73 years old, one can only deduce what health concern he might be facing.

According to Uproxx, every show lasts about two hours long, and he is usually covered in sweat from being under the harsh spotlights and being onstage for that long.

Fans are Devastated

After the announcement was released by the Nationwide Arena, fans flocked to Twitter to air out their frustrations and disappointment with the postponement.

"It's a shame for all of the people that traveled. But unfortunately, it can happen. Just hope it's a quick recovery and those with tickets will get to see him again when it's rescheduled," a fan wrote.

"Oh no. Just sitting here shaking my head. We have driven from Alberta through all kinds of weather to be at tonight's show," another added.

While some traveled across state lines, others traveled across timezones, like this fan who flew in all the way from the United Kingdom.

"I know it's unavoidable but my brothers and I have traveled from the UK for tonight's gig. We were just getting ready to leave our hotel and head into town."

"Don't alarm me. I hope everything gets better and the tour continues," another wrote.
