Costa Titch was doing what he loved the most before tragically dying over the weekend.

The South African rapper was performing at a music festival at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg when he suddenly collapsed.

His devastated family shared the tragic news through Instagram: "Death has tragically knocked at our door. Robbing us of our beloved son, brother, and grandson.

"Constantinos Tsobanoglou (28), whom South Africa had come to love and idolize under his stage name 'Costa Titch.' It is with deep pain that we find ourselves having to acknowledge his passing at this time."

According to reports, the rapper briefly regained his consciousness before he collapsed again.

There is no news on what really caused Costa Titch's death as of this writing, but many speculate that it might have to do with some major health issues.

His family also did not disclose what caused the rapper's death in their statement.

"As a family, we are faced with a difficult time as we try to make sense of what has befallen us and ask that we be afforded the time and space to gather ourselves.

The Tsobanoglou family thanks you for the love and support you have given to our son, and may you continue to uplift him even in spirit. Please keep us in your prayers and uplifted in the Lord."

Ultra South Africa, the music festival Cost Titch was performing at, also issued their statement regarding the tragic news.

"Costa was a galvanizing voice amongst South Africa's amapiano scene - a talented rapper, dancer, singer, songwriter, collaborator and friend to the festival," the statement, shared in social media, read.

According to reports, the young artist was on his way to becoming one of the most prominent rappers in South America.

He is one of the biggest amapiano-a music genre that is generally identified with deep basslines and soulful piano melodies.

He was also about to go worldwide as one of his songs "Big Flexa," became so popular, it had a remix version that features Akon.

This led to him signing with Akon's label, Konvict Kulture, and Costa Titch was so excited to bring his music to other parts of the world.

"After the success of my 2022 catalogue, we felt it was time to partner with a global entity so we can continue to push the barriers on an international scale," he said after signing with Akon.

"So once the opportunity was presented by Konvict, we knew it was meant to be. I think it also goes to show that when you set your mind to something it can really come to life."
