The current season and episode of "Ted Lasso" premiered with an obvious dig at Harry Styles, whom Olivia Wilde dated shortly after her breakup from the show's creator, Jason Sudeikis.
Season three returned on March 15, 2023, with an emphasis on Ted's connection with his son Henry. The episode ended with the two of them conversing over FaceTime, a habit that had developed during the series.
Per the Daily Mail, Ted observed his son Henry holding the Infinity Gauntlet toy and asked him where it originated from. "Mommy's friend Jake," he said, alerting Ted to the fact that his wife had a new amorous partner.
The revelation of Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde's separation in 2021 fueled accusations that Harry Styles was at the core of what caused it to be so nasty and public, especially because they share two children. Wilde and Styles allegedly met on the set of her film "Don't Worry Sweetheart," where he played one of the characters, Jack.
In 2020, the "Booksmart" filmmaker called it quits with Sudeikis, the father of her two children, Otis, eight, and Daisy, six.
As soon as the Thanos gauntlet was shown, speculation erupted. Many thought it was a reference to the "As It Was" singer, who had recently made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in "Eternals" as Starfox, Thanos' brother.
Others also remarked that one of the characters, Jake, may be a reference to Jack, the name of Styles' role in "Don't Worry Darling," when he met Olivia.
"I had to look online to find out what was going on," someone else said, "but it appears that Harry Styles took on the persona of 'Jack' when he saw Jason Sudeikis' wife while filming."
"Also, Ted's wife's new friend is named 'Jake,' who may be linked to Jack."
"As soon as the new season of 'Ted Lasso' started, all I could think about was when Jason Sudeikis got down to stop his wife's car in the parking lot - was he going to have an affair with Harry Styles?! That salad dressing moment still has me shaken," added another.
According to a third user, the latest episode of "Ted Lasso" may contain a reference to Harry Styles regarding the Infinity Stone Gauntlet. They acknowledged that they had forgotten Harry was a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One Direction Reunion?
Meanwhile, on Sunday, March 5, Harry Styles posted an Instagram story photo of himself working out at a gym. He was wearing a black One Direction shirt from their 2012 "Up All Night" tour.
This message was later taken from his page.
Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik were put in a square pattern on a throwback jersey. In one section, an acronym of their famed boy band, "1D," was scribbled.
Not shortly after Harry Styles shared a selfie to his Instagram story, it was promptly erased. Several of his supporters assumed the message was solely for those close to him as a result.
