Pete Wentz realized that he had to turn his life around back in 2010 while he was in the process of going through a divorce from Ashlee Simpson.

"My life was just like... a bomb had gone off in it," Wentz explained what his life was like during that time in his interview with Nylon magazine.

"You've atrophied all of these life skills. I was like, 'Oh. You have to figure out how to be happy as an adult.'"

Aside from his divorce, Wentz was also dealing with another heartbreak: Fall Out Boy was going on a break.

However, it proved to be somewhat of a blessing for the musician who was co-parenting Bronx, the son he shared with Simpson.

The Fall Out Boy break gave Wentz more to dedicate to being a parent and to picking himself up.

New Life

According to reports, the musician is in a much better place. He has since moved on from his split from Simpson and is currently with his long-time partner Megan Camper.

He and Camper share two children, Marvel, 4, and Saint, 8.

In 2013, Fall Out Boy resumed activities and eventually began making music again, which kind of threw Wentz off, as he had gotten used to his new life.

"I was like, I don't really know if I want to tour anymore," he said. "The mental part of leaving is much more difficult."

New Passions

But he was determined to follow his passion and do what he loves especially after the Covid pandemic hit, which put things into perspective: "Why don't you just do the s***t you want to do?" Wentz asked himself.

"Life is so short, and it's so long, that maybe you should try crazy s-t because it will break you out of the feeling of nihilism."

Aside from music, Wentz worked on developing new hobbies and passions like baking, pottery, reading, and comedy.

"There is no aspect of me that is a comedian," he continued, talking about the time he attended a local comedy club's open-mic night.

"Five minutes felt like [an] eternity. The whole time I felt like I was going to barf ... and I don't know if I was successful, but it was one of those things where I was just happy to get out unscathed."

This much can also be said about his life and career. Wentz was able to be happy and somewhat unscathed despite the struggles he had to face over a decade ago.
