After months of waiting, fans will finally get a chance to listen to Fall Out Boy's upcoming eighth studio album, "So Much (for) Stardust" soon. However, little did their supporters know that the new record was inspired by one of the most legendary bands of all time as revealed by their bassist.

In an interview with Zane Low on Apple Music 1, Pete Wentz, who's also the group's lyricist, revealed that he was inspired by a documentary featuring Metallica titled "Some Kind of Monster" while he was writing songs for their upcoming project.

He watched the film prior to writing and noted that in his head, he always thought that the iconic metal band "were a band for 30 or 40 years."

"I don't really know why but I was like, oh, we've been a band the same length that they were a band when they shot this, which is just a really weird mirror to look into," he added. (via WCYY)

Aside from him, some of his bandmates also watched the documentary, including lead singer and guitarist, Patrick Stump.

The musician chimed into the conversation, adding there are many things that have to line up for any bands today, "let alone a good one."

Just recently, after months of teasing fans, the band has finally unveiled the lead single titled "Love From the Other Side" off their eighth studio album.
