Happy birthday, Steven Tyler! The iconic member of Aerosmith is a year older today, as he celebrates more than 50 years of being a vocalist of the famed American rock band. As you read on regarding Steven Tyler's bio, his early days with Aerosmith, and more, you'll know why Tyler is an interesting musician as much as he is a talented singer:

Steven Tyler Bio

Steven Tyler was born Stephen Victor Tallarico in New York City on March 26, 1948. Tyler is the second of two children. Tyler's family moved to Yonkers, New York when he was older. In Yonkers, Steven attended Roosevelt High School, according to Aerosmithtemple.com.

Steven is the son of a classical musician who managed the Vic Tallarico Orchestra. Furthermore, Tyler was the drummer and singer of various local rock and roll bands prior to joing Aerosmith.

Steven Tyler and Aerosmith

In 1969, Tyler met guitarist, Joe Perry, in Sunapee, New Hampshire. In 1970, the two men met again in Boston, and hence, Aerosmith was formed together with bassist, Tom Hamilton. At a later time, Aerosmith pulled in another guitarist named Ray Tabano. Tabano was Tyler's childhood friend. Not too long after, Brad Whitford replaced Tabano, and drummer, Joey Kramer completed the formation of Aerosmith.

Aerosmith's Hits, Professional Accomplishments, and Accolades

Aerosmith went on a reunion tour called, "The Back in the Saddle"  that took place in June 1984 to January 1985. At that time, the band went on to record songs for their album again. However, the problem for Aerosmith remains in that its members suffered from drug addiction, especially Steven Tyler. The members of Aerosmith eventually successfully completed drug rehabilitation programs, and resumed pursuing their music careers with the band, henceforth.

In 1986, Steven and Joe Perry worked with Run-DMC for a remake of Aerosmith's 1976 hit song, "Walk This Way." "Walk This Way" peaked at number four on the chart. Likewise, the same song was listed as number 27 by Rolling Stone magazine for top 100 songs that changed the world.

Aerosmith's Use of Non-Traditional Instrument in Performing Their Hit Song

The use of Aerosmith of a non-traditional instrument in performing their hit song may be something that surprised fans. According to Cheatsheet.com, Tyler used a sugar packet as an instrument in recording Aerosmith's classic rock hit, "Sweet Emotion."
