Avenged Sevenfold released their latest album "Life Is But a Dream..." earlier this month and many fans have been vibing to the new songs ever since. More recently, frontman M. Shadows revealed the group's surprising inspiration for their record.

Many fans know the group as a metal rock band, but little did their supporters know that they also love taking inspiration from mainstream artists.

Speaking with the "Tuna on Toast Podast with Stryker," the host noticed that the lead vocalist was wearing a Daft Punk t-shirt, leading him to open up the topic of whether the duo inspired the new album or not.

M. Shadows, whose real name is Matthew Charles Sanders, then revealed that their band was indeed inspired by the French artists.

Avenged Sevenfold Inspired by Daft Punk

"When I listen to things like the [Kanye West] Yeezus record or Daft Punk or Rammstein or any of these bands that are just off the grid, there's like this interpretation of what they're doing but with this sort of heavy metal flag," he said. (via Z94)

The musician later noted that many fans have noticed heavy Daft Punk references throughout the song and it's all about not being afraid to explore technology in "a really grounded way."

Further explaining the origin of their sound, the frontman added that Avenged Sevenfold is not afraid of adding new elements to their sound despite being a metal group.

"So yeah, Daft Punk was a huge influence," he confirmed.

Avenged Sevenfold Also Inspired by Travis Scott

Elsewhere in the conversation, the host asked about the eighth, ninth, and tenth songs being spelled out as "GOD," to which M. Shadows confirmed that it was inspired by Travis Scott.

The band took inspiration from "SICKO MODE" which they listened to and noticed that there was different cuts in the beginning, especially with Drake's verse.

Avenged Sevenfold then started making songs that are shorter than usual and they wanted it to be connected with each other.

"Life Is But A Dream..." is not available for streaming on major music platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.

For fans who wanted to see the group of musicians perform live, they have numerous scheduled shows for their tour. The next concert would be at the Welcome to Rockville 2023 on May 19, 2023. For more information about their upcoming shows, visit their official website here.
