Tina Turner made a lasting impact in the music industry after releasing countless hits throughout the decades. More recently, it was reported that the musician sold her catalog for millions of dollars before she died.

According to Fox Business, the singer made a big decision to sell her music catalog to BMG and their deal was considered to be the single-largest acquisition of an artist's music.

Although the exact amount was not disclosed, BBC News stated that industry insiders estimate the deal to be worth around a whopping $50 million.

Tina Turner Believed Her Music is Safe With BMG

Shortly after the news of the deal made rounds online in 2021, the musician issued a statement at the time, saying she believes her music was "in reliable hands."

"Like any artist, the protection of my life's work, my musical inheritance, is something personal. I am confident that with BMG and Warner Music, my work is in professional and reliable hands," she said. (via Rolling Stone)

In addition to her music, the deal between the company and the singer also allows them to take over royalties, publishing rights, her name, image, and likeness.

Selling music catalogs in the music industry is very common as it was also done by Bruce Springsteen and Justin Bieber in the past.

The CEO previously revealed that acquiring the catalog is a way for them to introduce the musician to the new generation as they wanted to expand their reach and influence.

BMG has issued a statement on their website following Tina Turner's death, with CEO Hartwig Masuch writing, "there will only ever be one Tina Turner. Her music and her life's journey touch so many people."

Turner, who was dubbed the "Queen of Rock and Roll," passed away at the age of 83. The musician reportedly suffered from a long illness but her exact medical condition was not disclosed to the public. The singer died in her home in Switzerland.

Throughout her career, Turner was able to release numerous hit songs such as "Proud Mary," "The Best," "Better Be Good To Me," "What's Love Got to Do With It," and many more.

She also won major music awards like the Grammys with over 12 trophies.
