Tom Petty's family is reportedly suing an auction house after it announced an auction featuring some of the late musician's personal items; the reason why they're taking legal action is that the memorabilia are allegedly stolen.

Taking to the singer's official Facebook account, the family announced that they are pursuing "swift legal action" against the Boston-based company called RR Auction.

They noted that some of the personal property they are trying to sell has been "outright stolen from a secured archive based on prior knowledge, staff observations and documentation."

Now that they're taking the auction house to court, the family warned supporters to not participate in the auction until the matter between the two parties has been resolved to "avoid getting further involved" in the lawsuit.
