Fans are excited to see Slipknot perform live in Europe, but a day before they kick off their first show in Austria, one of the key members of the group announced that he will not join his bandmates for their series of shows; what happened?

Taking to the metal band's official Instagram account, Shawn Crahan, popularly known as the Clown, issued a statement saying he's back home as he needed to help his wife through "some health issues."

He assured fans that he will be back "on the road" as soon as possible.

"We've been through this before and as always, we appreciate the love and support. See all of you very soon," he added.

As of this writing, it's unclear when the musician will go back on tour, but his bandmates will be playing all across Europe throughout June including their appearances in music festivals such as Copenhell and Download.

Shawn Crahan is a Family Man

Even though the renowned drummer had been performing with Slipknot for decades now, he never forgets to spend time with his family, especially with his wife who had been battling Chron's disease.

According to Consequence, this is not the first time Clown would be vacating the drumkit as he already left the group temporarily to take care of his wife.

In a previous interview, as reported by Blabbermouth, the musician gave more insight into his personal life, saying, "That's the thing I fight for most in this biz, is family."

He added that family can be incorporated into rock 'n' roll and musicians under the said genre can have a family member that would eventually be a "rock 'n' roller."
