Some of the BTS members are currently enlisted to undergo a mandatory military enlistment in South Korea that's why the group is currently on hiatus. However, despite taking a break, the band still has a chance to snag a Grammy award; how is it possible?

According to Forbes, the Kpop superstars' commitment to the South Korean army do not hinder them from winning the prestigious award.

Although the Recording Academy has yet to announce its nominees, it's possible for BTS to be nominated this year as their last project is still eligible for an award next year.

Their last song was titled "The Planet," originally released for a television show in South Korea, but despite it being a local favorite, the group's international impact made it a fan favorite all around the world.

The track could possibly be nominated for different categories at the Grammys including the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

According to fans who shared their opinions on the Gold Derby, possible nominees could be "Boy's A Liar Pt. 2" by PinkPantheress and Ice Spice, "Special" by Lizzo and SZA, "Aetherna" by Coldplay, Sam Smith featuring Calvin Harris and Jesse Reyez for "I'm Not Here To Make Friends," and many more.

There is still a big chance that the list could change as the Grammy's eligibility period would be until August 31, meaning artists could still release new songs in the months to come.

BTS Military Enlistment

According to the AP News, the most recent BTS member to be enlisted to the South Korean military is J-Hope. He will spend 18 months in compulsory military service.

The eldest member, Jin, had already started his service late last year.

As of this writing, there are still five members who are expected to be enlisted in the coming years: Suga, V, Jungkook, Jimin, and RM.

The outlet noted that all able-bodied men in South Korea are required by the government to undergo 18 to 21 months of military service.

There has been a debate on whether the band should be exempted as there is a special exemption for men who are in the field of traditional music, classical music, athletics, and more.

However, K-pop stars and other artists do not fall under those categories.
