After the death of Lisa Marie Presley, her mother Priscilla attempted to keep her financial settlement with granddaughter Riley Keough discreet.

This was in response to a court petition submitted by the former wife of Elvis Presley, who wished to be named co-trustee of her late daughter's trust.

At the time of her death, court records revealed that debt had taken its toll on the life of Riley's mother, with an estimated total of $3-$4 million owed to various creditors.

Fortunately, Lisa Marie had taken out several life assurance policies, which paid out $35 million at her passing.

This money was then transferred into a trust fund from which only three beneficiaries could gain access - Riley and her younger twin sisters, Harper and Finley Lockwood.

Filing her petition, Priscilla alleged that her late daughter's ex-business manager, Barry Siegel, and herself were named executors of the will. However, she asserted that a supposed 2016 amendment removed her from the trust and made Riley its administrator.

Additionally, it was stated that the signature on the amendment did not resemble Lisa Marie's.

Subsequently, Riley was incensed at her grandmother for pursuing the case in court.

This week, news of a settlement between Riley Keough and Priscilla Presley came to light. It is reported that the young woman paid her elder $1 million in addition to covering legal fees totaling $400,000.

The agreement stipulated that Riley shall be the exclusive trustee of Lisa Marie's estate.

It claimed that "the parties' interest in maintaining this limited financial information under seal overrides any limited public right of access to this information, and supports sealing."

The amount paid to Riley was an issue that her grandmother wished to remain a secret, according to Radar Online.

To this end, it had been attempted to be sealed.

In legal documents presented before the judge, Priscilla expressed how overwhelming and heartbreaking her daughter's death had been for her.

She said in a statement, "We have learned that the fans realize that we are 'Just a Family.'"

"Elvis would be proud and his and Lisa's wishes are what are most important to all of us. My granddaughter, through her counsel, along with my team worked diligently and tirelessly to resolve all misunderstandings as a family."

Priscilla argued that the settlement terms should remain confidential as they contained details linked to her daughter's trust intended to benefit her two grandchildren.

She continued by expressing that were this information to come out in the open, it could put not only her safety but also that of her family in jeopardy and cause severe psychological pain, as well as damage their physical and mental well-being.

Furthermore, due to the potential exposure they'd face Priscilla feared that Riley and her minor granddaughters would be subjected to harassment and cruel behavior from others - something she felt no one should have to endure.
