Fans have been missing Deadland Ritual as they haven't put out new music since 2019 and many were disappointed as the group only lasted for a year. More recently, member Geezer Butler revealed one of the main factors why the band didn't continue their career.

According to Loudwire, many believed that the possible reason why the group didn't continue over the past few years was due to the pandemic, but there is another big factor as noted by the musician.

Speaking with the "Appetite for Distortion" podcast, Butler said his bandmates Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses, the Cult, Velvet Revolver) and Franky Perez (Apocalyptica), fell out while right before recording a new album.

2 Deadland Ritual Members 'Fell Out' Before Recording New Music

"It was right before we were gonna go into the studio and record the album. We'd written 12 songs for an album, and everything was going fine," he said.

The musician added that the pandemic happened right after the incident, and all the recording studios were closed down and people couldn't leave their houses for a few months.

At the time, all members were restricted to their individual houses, and "nothing ever came of it," leading him to start writing a new book.

Per the outlet, both members had previously worked together even before they became members of the supergroup because Perez constantly plays at Sorum's cover band Camp Freddy.

Despite Butler's recent revelation, he didn't give more context as to why Sorum and Perez fell out.

Deadland Ritual New Music Coming Soon?

When asked if the band would release any of the music that they were supposed to work on, the musician revealed that Matt Sorum would be the one dropping it anytime this year.

"I think Matt's gonna do one or two on his new [Kings of Chaos] album that should be out sometime this year. I was in [Deadland Ritual guitarist] Steve Stevens's studio and we both did a song for Matt," he explained.

Per the outlet, the band didn't officially release a statement regarding their disbandment, but Butler and Stevens revealed in separate interviews that the band's time had already concluded.

Stevens later spoke with Eddie Trunk, saying he thinks Deadland Ritual is "done" but there was a lot of material that they worked on and written that he hopes to hear in the future in "some form or another."
